MY PASSION

My life revolves around arts in both printed and digital media. I found a passion for the power of visual communication early on in art school which has developed into a career in publishing.

I’ve been producing high-quality custom publications for over 22 years in a variety of subject areas from lifestyle to sports to hi-tech. I enjoy learning new specialties and tailoring my work to the clients’ wishes and to industry-appropriate styles.

What I Do

Producing high-quality publications is my specialty. As a contract art director, graphic designer and photographer, I create visually impactful projects that fit my clients’ requirements. Collaborations with editors, advertising reps, contributing freelancers and press folks have been vital to the effectiveness of my work.

I manage production workflows and schedules while staying within budgets. Services offered include on-going projects as well as one-time consultations.

PUBLICATION DESIGN AND PRODUCTION

+ Contract magazine/book art director and senior-level graphic designer with over 22 years of publishing production experience, taking publications from inception to press.

+ Create concepts and layouts for consumer, trade and corporate magazines, books, catalogs, print and online advertising as well as brochures, media kits, corporate identity systems, logos and posters.

+ As an art director and photo editor, coordinate and edit custom photography as well as stock photography purchases.

+ Highly proficient in all aspects of the publication industry and digital workflow in the Adobe Suite environment (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro and Lightroom) including design, layout, photo editing, color correction, retouching, press files preparation for CMYK and spot processes.

+ Manage advertising production and ensure requested/most effective ad placement.

+ Oversee color-proofing processes and attend press checks, when needed, to ensure quality on press.

+ Prepare and post digital versions of magazines online as well as collaborate with web designers to create a more complex interactive experience.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

+ Work directly with publishers, art directors, writers, editors and advertising sales reps to plan project milestones, defining deadlines, and allocating resources.

+ Work directly with clients on custom book projects.

+ Independently manage multiple clients’ accounts.

+ Work within non-disclosure agreements and maintain pre-release confidentiality.

COMMERCIAL AND EDITORIAL PHOTOGRAPHY

+ Plan, conceptualize and art direct photo shoots.

+ Create original photography.

INTERNATIONAL WORK AND LANGUAGES

+ Extensive international travel experience, both business and personal.

+ Graphic design experience in English, Japanese and Czech.

+ Fluent in English and Czech, familiar with Russian and German.

+ Working experience in multicultural environments.
